I am needing help locating a Civil war vet. He is my 3x great grandfather.

His name is Samuel Joseph Wilson
Born in Davidson Co, NC 18 Jan 1835
Word of mouth in the family is that he died in Staunton Hosp due to wounds he got in the war.
He ws married to Mary Elizabeth Burkett in Smyth Co, Va in 1858.
The 1860 census shows them living in Abingdon, Washington co, Virginia

I have tried searching the LVA but come up with nothing. There are tons of Samuel Wilson's that were in the war so it is hard to tell which one he is.

Is there anyone with ANY info on him? He just dropped off the face of the Earth after 1860. An 1870 census shows he is not with his wife.

If you don't have any info, do you have any suggestions on where I can go now?
