Hi, This letter was provided by me some time ago to multiple cousins. It was saved through the years by Margaret Sager Faris. It was a clipping from one of the Corydon, Iowa newspapers -- Promise City never had a newspaper. The original source was a letter from Elizabeth Sager that was sent to Ohio after which it was sent throughout the family. C. A. Sager had it later placed in the Corydon newspaper as he liked to get his name in print. When the clipping got so it was almost unreadable, the only way Margaret could preserve the words was to have her neighbor type it out (this was before photocopies). However, the neighbor was not a very good typist. That is where the misspellings come from -- not Elizabeth.
