Boer War horses

I recently discovered that horses from the US were supplied for the Boar War. Most of them were shipped from New Orleans. My great grandfather supplied some of these horses. I believe they were sent on the ship Milwaukee on August 23, 1901. They were put on a train at Spokane Falls, Territory of Washington and the destination was Ranchester, Wyoming Territory. They must have been shipped from Ranchester to New Orleans. Does anyone know if there would be records in New Orleans about where the horses were held before they were shipped out?
