My Grandfather served on the SS George W. McCrary also, I don't know the dates in which he served on this ship. It is a merchent marine ship and my Grandfather was part of the Naval Armed Guard. Was your father Armed Guard or Marine? This ship was scrapped in Kearny, NJ 8/14/67. Contact the National Archives www.nara.gov , to get any other info you may need.
