Your story about the Purple Heart you found at the Goodwill store touched me. You are a good and honorable person.
Here's a story about the Purple Heart that I found in "The World War II Quiz & Fact Book, Volume 2" by Timothy B. Benford:
Q. What distinction does U.S. Army nurse Ann Fox hold with regard to the December 7 attack on Pearl Harbor?
A. She received the first Purple Heart presented to a woman in the war as a result of injuries she received at Hickam Field.
