In his military file from NARA, my ancestor is noted as having served in the US Army from 1812-1817 under the following:
Capt M Swett's Co. of US Artillery,
Robt G. Hite's Co. of US Artillery,
Capt James H. Boyle,
Capt G. Haig, US Light Dragoons,
Capt Hayen.
I have never been able to find anything very definitive for any of these men...any clarification will be greatly appreciated. Ultimately, I want to discover where and when my ancester served/fought etc...assisted by learning more about the forces these men led.
