Good question, Lois. My gr-gr-grandfather's land record in Bathurst Twp, Lanark County states: Simon Bodart the elder, private in the Canadian Fencibles. This is the ONLY record I have of his involvment in the War of 1812, despite hours of research. I have looked high and low for lists of names, found only a few from the American side. If Simon (and his son Simon, the younger) received land for their participation, you would think their involvement would be recorded somewhere.
