Nehemiah Phillips was a War of 1812 (Col. E. H. Metcalf's
Heavy Artillery Regiment, 13th Brigade, New York) draftee and received a substantial Land Warrant upon his departure from the service. His family came from Rhode Island, but no one bothered to write down his parents'. 13th New York State Militia Heavy Artillery
Organized at Suffolk, Va., for three months, May 28, 1862. Mustered out September 28, 1862
Nehemiah Phillips was born in Rhode Island in 1791 and died in Sodus, New York on 12 October 1876. He is buried in the Bushnell/Swales/Tinkelpaugh Cemetery
