Glenice and Vivian,
The original questions reguested information about "McMahan's Regiment, which I answered with the information provided. It appeared that both of you knew for sure your ancestors were in the Regiment, so I did not address that, and yes, they were in the Regiment. Gideon Langdon; roll box 121, roll record 7891, and Isaac Crabb; roll box 48, roll record 841. Glenice's reply seemed to indicate that she felt the Isaac Crabb in Cayuga County, in the 1810 census was not her Isaac Crabb, as her Isaac Crabb was from Chautauqua County NY.
Had I had this information I would have also checked in Chautauqua County for information on McMahan's Regiment, but may also have figured you already may have done so. In either event, because of Glenice's information on Chautauqua you will find several pages of history on McMahan's Regiment in "The History of Chautauqua County". The Regiment was involved in the Battle of Queenston Heights, The call to the Defense of Buffalo, and other assignments.
One must remember that men came from all over to join a Regiment, especially if they were called to serve and there was not enough population to form a Regiment in their area. Also Chautauqua County was relatively new and rapidly growing, having been formed in 1808 with the first settler recognized as being there between 1796 or 1801
I would not discount the Isaac Crabb of Cayuga County as possibly being your Isaac Crabb, or a relation. With two Captains having been from Cayuga, there is good chance of it.
