Surnames: War of 1812
Capt. Matthew Johnson's Company of 63 men were from SW Pa, his men volunteered or were drafted in October of 1812 and served for 6 months in Ohio moving supplies and building Fort Meigs in Ohio. Many of them volunteered and extra 15 days after their tour was up to protect the fort. The men rendevouzed at Pittsburgh were they were assigned as part of Major David Nelson's 5th Battalion Pa Troops under Gen. Richard Crooks who led the Pa Troops under Gen. Harrison.
