All able bodied white men 18-45 were required to serve in the Pa Militia by law. You should order his bounty land records that were granted if he served 2 weeks or more active duty, they should give some information to the active duty tours he served. Militia from that area served at Black Rock, NY, in 1812, also I believe as part of Col. Rees Hill's Regiment that served at Erie in 1813, then under Harrison in Ohio and some crossed over into Canada with his army. The publsihed Pa Archives 2nd series volume 12 and 6th series volumes 6-10 give the rosters of active duty units, ancestry.com also has some info.
