Use a soundex search for last names if you if you don't find them with exact. If I have a birth year and sure of the location too I will do just use their first name or initial search.
By the way in 1920 WV census David is listed twice. In Wyoming Co. as a boarder, listed as David C Whorley taken in Febuary and in his father's household with his wife and children in Mercer County taken in March, listed as D C Warley
