Thanks for the prompt reply. I have drawn a blank on this one so far. I can not prove without the date of birth that the record is my grandfathers. My biggest concern is that in the rank section, it first has him down as a 'driver' and then as a 'private'.
None of these convince me that he was in the cavalry which is the verbal evidence I have received so far from the relatives.
I think it would be a big jump to assume that the person I have a medal index card for is my grandfather.
