I have traced a relation - Private Albert Dean No. 12318 – 19th (Service) Battalion Manchester Regiment “D” Company Platoon No. XIII.
Albert originally joined on enlistment: 4th City Battalion, Manchester Regiment, Regtl. No.: 12318 Labour Corps.: 403110 on 7 September 1914 and I know that by June 1915 he was based at Belton Camp, Grantham.
His medals record states: Regiment or Corps and [Regimental Number]: Manchester Regiment [19/12318] Royal Engineers [WR 278681] Labour Corps Royal Engineers Awarded: 1914-15 Star; Victory Medal and British Medal Theatre of War served in: “III” Date of entry therein: 8 November 1915.
Does anyone know anything more about 19th (Service) Battalion Manchester Regiment “D” Company Platoon No. XIII and 4th City Battalion, Manchester Regiment. I would be very interested to know the movements of these Battalions and where Albert was posted throughout the War. Can anyone help me please?
