Hi Chris,

You'll find the 234th Brigade mentioned in the Caithness Archive “stories” , especially the one titled “Caithness Commandos:LRDG:Desert to the Dodecanese”, the 4th battalion Buffs were part of the Brigade but the Seaforth Highlanders weren't.

From what you say it looks like the “missing” bits your late father mentioned could possibly have been associated with training and deployment with one of the special forces units that went to re-inforce the 234th Brigade.

Perhaps they disguised his special forces detachment by calling it “attachment to Seaforth Highlanders” - be nice for you if you found a Veteran that served with him AND also had his MoD records to compare with.
