What can military records tell me?

Classification: Query
Surnames: BOREN, teague
My fiance filled out an SF-180 to try and attain any military records that he could about his grandfather, Jimmie Boren.
What would military records tell us?
We know nothing about Grandpa. We are pretty sure that his parents died in the 1928 Hurricane in FL, and so they have no death records. We have no marriage record of grandpa's parents. We know only his mother's name (Teague, Daisy).

Would military records have any information about his parents? They died when he was 6, and he was raised by his grandmother, so we know he did not need to list his parents as next-of-kin.
