This is a huge site but there may be a place to contact within it. I don't think completing the Standard Form 180 will do you any good either because they'll tell you that it burned in a fire in 1973. Also, you might try obtaining a certificate from the State that he was from...just like you would obtain anyones death certificate.

I do know you can write for a deceased personnel file but that can take months to get and I don't know if it would include a death certificate.

Is your relative buried overseas? If so, let me know his full name and I'll see what I can find for you. Do you have this person's military serial number?
