Diane: Thanks for sharing that letter with us. What a wonderful thing to have. Too often we think of our fighting forces as some nebulous group without face,family or feelings. Reading your dad's letter made me think of the soldiers - and other servicemen - as individuals with feelings about what they were doing. What comes through in your father's letter is that he fought for freedom, but felt war was such a waste of the precious time we all have here on earth.
Please tell him that I thank him for his service to our country. He is a real hero. God bless him!
