Kenneth James Cross from TX, died Jan. 6, 1984
Hello Everyone,
To begin with, please respond to this letter/query by email at: francesca@starstreamcable.com (I can't check the boards often, and responding to maggiesmemories will just put you in touch with my aunt, who is kind enough to let me use her ancestry.com subscription. On to business:
I am hoping that someone on this board can put me in touch with the family of WWII Veteran Kenneth James Cross, from Texas, I believe. He was born on Nov. 2, 1925 (although a family tree has his dob as 1926) He died on January 6, 1984. His United States Marine Corps Reserves WWII dog tag was found on Guadalcanal. Information on the tag is:
CROSS, K.J.
546952 P (Protestant)
TYPE A
T 12/43
USMCR
He most likely enlisted in December of 1943, because the T stands for Tetanus shot, and they usually got the shot when they first enlisted.
I have a picture of the tag that I can forward to family members, when I find them. I have the name of his wife and the names of his children, but have been unsuccessful in locating a current address or phone number for them. Names of his kids are: Joy, William and James. His wife is/was? named Ruth, maiden name Leake b. abt. 1922 All of Ruth and Kenneth's children were born in Texas.
My friend would like to give Kenneth's tag back to his family. There is no charge for this. He gets the tags, I do the research, and then we return the tags as a way of honoring the veteran. We feel a great responsibility to prevent these tags from ending up on Ebay or being sold as tourist trinkets. If you can help in any way, it would be greatly appreciated.
