I wish to add the name of PFC. Joseph Raymond Zahlke to the Memorial list for WW II. He served in the Army in Leyte,received two Purple Hearts, Ryikyu Campaign, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon and 4 Bronze Service Stars. He was in 7th Infantry Division, Co. C, 13th Eng. He was separated at Camp Lockett, CA.
Joseph was in the Okinawa Campaign and Philippine Campaign.
He was injured in the war receiving a hit to the head by a Japanese soldier.
Joseph died of cancer on October 16, 1998 in Washougal, WA. Buried in Williamette National Cemetery, Portland, OR.
Joseph was survived by his wife, Rosa Lee Zahlke.
