If you go to the following website www.dvrbs.com and search under S.S. John A. Poor, you will find a photo of her.
The ship was laid down on 14 May 1943 and launched on 23 June 1943. Her hull number was 807.
The S.S. Poor struck a mine in the North Atlantic on 26 July 1943, there was no loss of life and she was reapired and returned to duty. The report on this you can find at
http://www.seawaves.com/newsletters/TDIH/july/28.jul.txt

On 19 Mar 1944 she was torpedoed by the german submarine U-510 in the area of the Red Sea/Indian Ocean. The location given was 13.58' north x 70.30' west. There were reportedly no survivors from the the merchant crew or US Navy Armed Guard on board. You can also check the Naval Armed Guard website for more information.
Hope this helps!
