Classification: Query
Surnames: Neikirk, Niekirk, Nikirk, Nickirk
My father Charles Neikirk was a member of the KY National Guard, Troop I, 123rd Calvary from 1938 to 1940 when he enlisted in the US Army. When enlisted, he was assigned to the 103rd AAA Automatic Weapons Battalion of the KY National Guard. He did his basic training at Camp Hulen, Palacios TX then was shipped to the British Isles in April 1942. I have discovered a book was written about the 103rd called "Dog" Battery, 103rd AAA (AW) Battalion, It's Hidden History in World War II, February 1941 to September 1945 by Harold Dwight Tipton. The book was published in 1998. If anyone has any information on the 103rd from KY, or knows the whereabouts of a copy of the book, please contact me. Thank you so much.
