Marilyn Atkinson Teague, 91, passed away peacefully in her home on November 12, 2010.
Marilyn was born in Dixon, Illinois, the youngest of five daughters.
Upon graduating from nursing school in Chicago, Illinois she enlisted in the Army. Stationed at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas, she met Jo M. Teague Jr., a young lieutenant from Atlanta.
They were married on the base on May 29, 1942. After the war, the Teagues settled in Toledo, Ohio, and lived there for thirty years while raising their family.
In 1978, they retired to South Carolina, where Marilyn won the women's golf club championship.
Jo and Marilyn volunteered for ten years with the International Executive Service Corps (IESC).
Their service took them to Thailand, Jordan, Botswana, Zambia and Barbados. In 1985 they settled in Venice, FL,
Marilyn's beloved husband predeceased her in 2002. She is survived by her four sons: Jo III (Margaret), Ron (Marylea), Brad (Nancy), and Stan (Patty); six grand children and 16 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Christ United Methodist Church in Venice on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 10:30 a.m.
An inurnment will take place at the Sarasota National Cemetery that afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Plantation Community Foundation.
