"Pittsburgh Nurse Jap Plane Victim"
Lt. Evelyn Catherine Eckert of 3227 East St., was killed when a Jap plane crashed on the hospital ship Comfort last month the War Department informed her family. Lt. Eckert, who was 21, was an Army nurse aboard the ship. She entered service shortly after graduation from South Side Hospital three years ago. She was a daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Frank Eckert and has three brothers in Service, Sgt. Albert Eckert with the Army in Mississippi, Pvt. George Eckert, recently returned from Europe where he was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart, and Seaman Emil, overseas with the Merchant Marine.
