LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio – Marcella R. Bobby, 92, passed away Friday morning, April 5, 2013, at Liberty Health Care following a brief illness.
Marcella was born Sept. 13, 1920, in Farrell, Pennsylvania, the only child of Sam Reckert and Anna Mayher Reckert.
She graduated from the Montefiore Hospital School of Nursing in 1943 and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Army Nurses Corps, serving overseas as a lieutenant from 1943 through 1945.
Upon her return, Marcella worked as a registered nurse in various facilities throughout Mahoning and Shenango counties until her retirement in 1972.
Marcella married Leo Bobby in November of 1952. They moved to Hubbard, Ohio in 1953, where they remained until retiring to Tarpon Springs, Fla., in 1982.
Surviving are two sons, Donavon (Carol) Brown of Hubbard, Ohio and Gary (Patty) Brown of Columbus, OH; two grandchildren, Melissa (Robert) Tonti of Toledo and Gary (Gretchen) Brown Jr. of Columbus; and four great-grandchildren, Michael, Jessica, Lily and Elizabeth.
Marcella was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and her uncle, John Mayher.
Private services will be held at a later date at the Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Clearwater, FL.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home in Hubbard.
