Robert John Thomas:
Memorial services for Aviation Ordnance Mate Robert John Thomas, 20, who was killed in action off Okinawa May 14, will be held Sunday, September 9, at 3 p.m., in the Concord Presbyterian Church, Brownsville Road, Carrick. Ordnance Mate Thomas was a "plank owner" aboard the U.S. Carrier Bataan. He had served aboard the Bataan since her commissioning and was entitled to five major battle stars. A graduate of Brentwood High School in June, 1943, he enlisted in the navy immediately after graduation. He leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Thomas, of 41 Greenlee Road, Brentwood; a brother, Bill, and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John R. Davis, of 35 Becks Run Road, Carrick
