Philomene Koltoniak, 86 years, of Petersburg, Michigan, died Sunday, November 18, 2007, in the Franciscan Care Center, Sylvania, OH. The daughter of Joseph and Anna (Suwinski) Krzeminski she was born May 11, 1921, in Toledo, Ohio. Philomene served her country in WWII as a medic and truck driver in the U.S. Army and received the Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, WAAC Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and Meritorious Unit Award. She married Felix J. Koltoniak May 29, 1948, in St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Temperance. He preceded her in death May 6, 1988. She worked as a press operator at the former Sharon Manufacturing in Temperance for 24 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary 225, and a charter member of Women In Military Service of America. Philomene is survived by her loving children, Jerry (Peggy) Koltoniak; Cynthia (Terry) Dvorsky; grandchildren, Aaron (Tanya) Dvorsky, Dori Spano, Barrett Dvorsky, Dustin Koltoniak, Lorn Koltoniak; 2 great- grandchildren Madison and Jacob Spano; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by grandson Justin Koltoniak March 15, 1985 and 2 brothers. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 20, 2007 from 2 until 8 p.m. in the Bedford Funeral Chapel, 8300 Lewis Avenue, Temperance, MI, where the wake service will be Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony's Church where she will lie in state in the Narthex after 10 a.m. celebrated by the pastor, Rev. Brian Hurley, with interment following in the church cemetery. VFW Post #9656 and American Legion Post #191 will handle joint Military Honors at the Cemetery.
