YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO – Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Amelia Charnesky, 87, who passed away Saturday March, 1, 2008 from complications from C.O.P.D.
Amelia was born Feb. 4, 1921 in Wick Haven, Pa., the daughter of Dominick and Jessie Corna and came to this area as a child.
She was a graduate of Leetonia High School, class of 1939, and also attended Youngstown College. She served in the Women’s Army Corp and the Women’s Army during WWII, later becoming a nurse.
Her husband, Wesley, whom she married March 29, 1941, passed away Nov. 26, 1991.
She was an avid bowler belonging to several leagues. She also enjoyed roller skating and traveling.
She leaves two daughters and one son, Nancy Muennich of Brookfield, Eva Okusewsky of Canfield, OHIO and Wess Charnesky of Youngstown. She also leaves a sister, Penny Garrett of Leetonia, Ohio; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Family and friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
