Mona Williams, 83, of Newark, Ohio died March 25, 2008, at the Newark Healthcare Center.

She was born April 25, 1924, in Bridgeport, Ala., to the late Jim and Maxine Tanner.

Mrs. Williams was a veteran of World War II, having faithfully served her country in the United States Army Women's Army Corps (WAC).

She is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Richard) Melvin of Zanesville, Ohio and Karen Soisson of Lancaster, Ohio; two sons, Henry R. (LaDonna) Williams of Grove City, Ohio and Rick (Dot) Williams of Hebron, Ohio; two grandchildren, Wendy Williams of Grove City and Dawn Bennett of Bradenton, Fla.; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George R. Williams, on Nov. 3, 2007; three sisters; and two brothers.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 27, at the Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 N. Fifth St.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2008, at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Newark, Ohio.
