NILES, OHIO – Ruth E. Rulli, 100, formerly of Girard, OHIO passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home.

Ruth was born Feb. 5, 1908 to the late Willard and Catherine Brown Nearhoof in Yeagerstown, Pa.

Ruth worked for the Army Airforce Intelligence in Boston during WWII and as an Army WAC.

She owned and operated The Children’s Shoppe in Girard from 1940 to 1962.

Ruth was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Girard, Past Commander of the American Legion Auxiliary in Warren, Girard Senior Citizens Past President, Past Trustee and Music Director for 15 years, and a former Trustee for the Girard Historical Society.

She is survived by her daughter, Ruth (Ben) Thomas of Spring, Texas; grandchildren, Sherry Drummond of Girard, Ben (Kennetha) Thomas of Spring, Texas, Bob Thomas of Dove Canyon, Calif., and Shelly (John) Szilagyi of Victoria, Texas; great-grandchildren, Michael Drummond of Girard, Jennifer (Rob) Glenn of Houston, Amanda Thomas of Silsbee, Texas, Scott (Cindy) Milligan of Chicago, Keisha Johns of Spring, Autumn Thomas of Dove Canyon, John (Tabitha) Szilagyi of Victoria and Ben Szilagyi of Spring; six great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Ruth Nearhoof of Liberty Twp.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank J. Rulli, whom she married in 1924 and who died May 16, 1985; four sisters; and three brothers.

Private services were held on Saturday at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard.

The family would like to thank Niles Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home for their love and exceptional care they gave to Ruth.

Material contributions can be made to the Niles Shepherd of the Valley.

Interment will be at Girard City Cemetery.
