Rose Elizabeth Wikarski (Lado), 89 years, of Temperance, MI passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2013, in Aspen Grove Assisted Living, Lambertville, Michigan.
The daughter of Louis and Velma (Palady) Lado, she was born August 6, 1923 in Cleveland, OHIO.
Rose served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
She saw active duty in the Philippines, Japan, and on the hospital ship Hope.
On November 21, 1981, she married Joseph Wikarski.
She was a nurse for over 40 years.
Rose was an avid worldwide traveler and loved camping.
She enjoyed oil painting and all needle work.
Rose was active volunteer in her Church and community affairs.
She was a member of the Catholic War Veterans.
Rose is survived by her loving husband, Joseph; children, Diane (Ken) MacDonald, Donald McKivett, Denise (Alex) Noboa; grandchildren, Katherine (Jay) Rich and Kevin MacDonald; great-granddaughter, Madilynn Rich; brother, Karl Lado; sisters, Andrea (Jim) Rosenberger, Jeanne (Joe) Foderaro.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Velma Lado; her first husband, Milo McKivett; 2 infant sons, Kevin and Evan; sisters, Louise Brodale, Emily Newton, Anne Godwin, Magdalene Gimple; brothers, Louis Lado and Frank Lado.
Family and friends may visit Sunday, January 20, 2013, from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. in Urbanski's Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Avenue Temperance, MI.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 21, 2013,in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. where she will lie in state after 10:00 a.m.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Sylvania OHIO With military honors.
Donations may be made to Erie West Hospice.
