Ruth Rosemary Blitzer, 90, of Keaau died January 7, 2011. She was born in Rochester, New York, on April 10, 1920, to Emanuel and Eleanor (Wambauch).
She served our country in the Army and was decorated with the Good Conduct Medal, Women’s Army Corp. Service Medal, and Honorable Service Lapel Button.
She learned sign language and worked for the school for the deaf in Rochester, New York.
She married Martin Blitzer in Ft. Brag, North Carolina on April 5, 1946. She is preceeded to her final resting place by her husband on February 15, 2009, and by four sisters.
She is survived by her sons Robert (Kimberly) Blitzer of Fairfax, Virginia; Richard (Olena) Blitzer of Paradise Park, Hawaii; and Mark (Lisa) Blitzer of Pittsford, New York; sister Betty (Edward) Elman of Pittsford, New York, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, January 13, 2011 at 12:00 at the West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery.
