Mary Aniuk, 87, passed away the morning of March 4th, 2010. Born November 19th, 1922 in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey.
Mary was the eldest girl of 12 children born to Edward and Mary Gormley.
She served with distinction as a Private, First Class, in the U.S. Women’s Army Corps (WAC) during World War II.
Mary eventually joined the staff of St. Gregory’s Catholic School where she taught kindergarten for more than 25 years. She volunteered many hours at the Veterans Affairs Hospital and was an active member of the local WAC chapter. She touched many lives throughout her long life.
Mary lived at the Fellowship Square in Mesa for the past 15 years.
She is survived by 3 children: Leonard Aniuk, Mary Lou Haggerson and Larry Aniuk, along with 5 grandchildren: Elizabeth Aniuk, David Aniuk, William Aniuk, Lora Haggerson and Stacey Haggerson.
All will remember her with fondness and affection.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Mary at a memorial mass to be held March 25th, 10 am at St. Gregory’s Church, 3424 North 18th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85105.
