Anna E. "Betty" (Potts) Smith, 89, of Bullhead City, Arizona, passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 2, 2012.
She was born Sept. 4, 1922, in Guernsey County, Ohio daughter of Uriah Winnett and Floral Charlotte (Ruby) Potts.
Mrs. Smith attended a one-room school near Lore City, Ohio (Liberty) with Mr. Moorehead as principal and teacher. She transferred to Senecaville High School, and graduated in 1940.
She served her country in the Women's Air Corps from 1943 to 1946. She was stationed in Phoenix, Arizona, where she met and married her first husband and father of her four children, Ed Weatherholt.
After several years living on a farm in Guernsey County and the Alliance area, they relocated to California. She worked at a paint store and retired to Bullhead City with her second husband, Eugene Smith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ed; her second husband, Gene; and a brother, Jim Potts, Columbus, Ohio.
She leaves four children, Danny Weatherholt, Missouri, Barbara Dawn (Tom) Steele of Texas, Michael (Nola) Weatherholt, Arizona, and Charlotte Doreen "Dolly" (Robert) Chauvenne, Georgetown, Pa.; five grandchildren, Dawn, Tracy, Bob, Eugene and Chris; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She also leaves siblings, K. Belle Sanders of Akron, Ohio, Bonnie Milec, Stow, Ohio, W. Earl (Kaye) Potts, La Mesa, Calif., Donald E. "Luke" Potts, Salesville, Ohio and Shirley Swartz, Sarahsville Road; many nieces and nephews; and several cousins in the Guernsey County, Ohio area.
Cremation took place in Arizona.
Burial and a memorial service will take place at a later date in the Senecaville Cemetery, Senecaville, Ohio.
