My mother was born Oct. 8, 1958 in Kingsville, TX. She was adopted by Robert and Sina Carter. They named her Sheila Marie Carter. They got her 3 days after her birth and the adoption was final in Sept. 1959. After getting the adoption records opened, they find out her birth last name was Williams. Unfortunately the adoption record did not list her birthparents. The only record of a Williams female born on Oct. 8, 1958 was a Dottie Virginia Williams whose birth certificate was sent to Austin, TX. That has to be her. We really want to know my b-grandparents names, please contact me if you know anything.

Adotion help questions

1.) My daughter was born in 1988 and was adopted within days, privately. Is it too early to expect that she would be looking for me, yet? If so should I wait to get involved with an adoption web-site? After all, I really can't contact her until 2006ish, right?

2.) My mom was adopted in 1952 in Maryland. How does one begin a search? Records were sealed, I assume. She has no interest in this, for whatever reason. However, I have a burning itch to know. Can I do anything?

Thanks,
Trisch

My paternal grandmother was Marcia Benson. She lived in Owensboro, KY. She was adopted most likely by a Benson family. She was an orphan. She died around 1929 or 1930.
Perhaps the Benson family knows who her biological parents are. Any help is welcomed.

Looking for Adopted Brother

At the beginning of 2002 I was informed that I had an adopted half brother who was born at County Antrim Hospital Northern Ireland in 1947, on his original birth certificate he was named Vincent DePaul Fitzpatrick, his father's surname was Donnelly, not sure of the spelling of Donnelly. I am entered into part two of the Nth Ireland Adoption Register in the hope that my brother will enter into part one.
At the time of vincents birth many articles concerning this era states that many single mother's who entered their babies into a home to be looked after had their babies adopted out to America and Australia, sometimes without the signed permission of the mother.

My husbands mother gave up a child for adoption when she was a teenager, but we don't know when or where it took place. As far as we know, there was only one aunt who knew about it and she is deceased, so is his mother. All we were told was that she had a baby and gave it up for adoption when she was a teen and that she left home to have it. Anyone with ideas on where to start, I would really appreciate it! Thank you!

Birth Mothers name: Ruth Lavina Fleming
DOB: Oct. 3, 1932
born and raised in Arkansas .. later moved to Michigan for the remainder of her life and died June 1982.

Where should I start looking???? I have posted at this site with her name and info but no luck yet.

family members of Anna Morrison Cardamone

Anna Morrison gave birth to a son James. He was born May 21, 1925 in St. Catharines, Ontario Canada. Anna moved to the U.S. in 1920. Sometime after that she married Victor Cardamone..The adoptive parents are John and Hazel Lorenze. They lived in Niagara Falls, New York. Anna worked as a nurse in the hospital in St. Catharines and also at Buffalo General in New York. She died Oct. 8, 1967 at Memorial Hospital and was buried Victoria Lawn Cemetary in St. Catharines. My husband James R. Lorenze is the son of her son James. He and his brother Douglas are looking for relatives on that side of the family. My father in law is now deceased. The only information my husband ever heard was that the Lorenze's were friends of Anna's and agreed to adopt James. He did not even know that he was adopted until he went to join the service for WWII. My husband was also told that his father had spent some time in an orphanage and that his biological father was not known. Any information would certainly be appreciated. Thank you .. Carol Lorenze

Adoptions in 1920's

Does anyone know where to start regarding adoptions that took place in the 1920's? We have the birthdate of the adoptee, the year (1921), the name of the adoptive parents and the state (New York). We might know the city, unfortunately it might be New York City and we don't know specifically which borough.

I am searching for my husbands baby sister. His mother would never give us any info. She was possibly born in Texas, New Mexcio or Oklahoma. Her mothers name was Betty Rose, may have used any of the three last names, Jones,Young or Collins. Betty was born 09-21-1937 in Texas. She was about 5'3" 110lbs.She had strawberryblonde hair and had blue eyes. Betty had one living child at the time of birth,a son. Betty would have been 18 or 19 at time of birth, possibly unmarried. We have no info at all on the father. Betty's other children were born in Hutchinson County Texas, the baby may have been born there too. we do not know the exact date of birth (could even have been as early as 11 or 12 of 1955)If any of this sounds familiar PLEASE E-Mail me fourwheelingbrat@excite.com I would love to give my husband his baby sister for Christmas.Thank You in Advance and GOD Bless.

I am looking for two of my sisters. I was born July 16, 1943 in Lee County, Ia, my two sisters, their birth dates I can only guess, 1941 and 1939 or 1938 as I was almost 2 and they were 3 and 5 going on 6 at the time. I believe we were sent to separate orphanages soon after arriving in Ottumwa Ia in 1944-45. I was adopted within the month of arrival, but do not know what happened to my two sisters. My birth name was Sharon Ann Doty, their birth names were Alice Jeanette, she was the oldest about 5-6 years old, had already been to Kindergarten, the other only 1 year older than me, was Madeline Carol. Any one with any information please leave me a message on the board. Thanks

I am now forty and confirmed that i was adopted by my "father". I have the name of my bio father and also the adoption case number. I am in the process of trying to get the file unsealed in court and while i am waiting i am wondering if anyone knows what is actually in a file. I guess what i want is there any actual info in a file that will help me locate my bio father and/or family or will it just contain a name? My mother denied this when i confronted her at 14 when my sister found 2 different baby books of me. I was young and jumped at her about it and now wish i would of kept it to myself.I only remember the name.

can't find birth record

I was born in 1953 and my Mother and Father were both married to other people. They never did marry one another and although I know who each of them are, I can not find a record of my birth under my mothers married name at the time, her maiden name, my adopted fathers name, or my real fathers name.
I am beginning to think that the only answer is that I only exist in my own mind!!! Any ideas? ANYBODY???
E-mail me direct at Sharlene@atcnet.net

Walter Washington Colson -- Missouri, Idaho

I am trying to locate any information about my grandfather, Walter Washington Colson, born 2/6/1876 in Nebraska (or Missouri?). He died 3/2/1927 in Boise, Idaho. My father, Joseph Walter Colson (d. 6/21/85), claimed that his father was adopted into the Colson family. However about 2 years ago a woman whose last name was Colson contacted some of my cousins in Idaho with a story indicating that Walter's mother might have "left" her husband (DeFrate or DeFrote) and left her two boys in the care of her mother, whose name was Colson. She had information about my grandfather and his line, but unfortunately my cousins lost the woman's name and phone number. My grandfather's obituary indicates that he was survived by a brother named Argia Boddy (of Boise, Idaho) and two brothers William and Andrew Colson of Dubois, Idaho. I have not been able to find any further information... any help you can offer in my search would be wonderfully appreciated and would help to clear up a lifelong mystery.

adoptee born 3-31-1947 Laconia, NH B-mom possibly Ackerman, Latz or Bonner

Looking for birth family of male adoptee thought to be born March 31, 1947 at Lakes Regional Hospital, Laconia, NH. Adopted that fall when the young birth mother realized she was too young to raise him. Private adoption.

Two children are listed as born on that date in the 1947 Laconia annual report - Gregory Ackerman (born to Natalie Ackerman, no father listed) and Clifford Bonner (born to Charles Bonner and Catherine Latz). Not sure if either of these if the appropriate birth record.

Adoptee loved his adoptive parents (now deceased) and has no bad feelings about his adoption - feels birth mom did what she felt was best and hopes he would have had the courage to do the same in a similar situation. However, he would just as soon let the past be the past and has never wanted to find her. I respect this, but I would like a basic medical history on the birth parents if I can find them.

Please email any info you have about the birth family, or if you can identify one of the above boys as not having been adopted.

Thank you.

My question is, is there any way to find her by searching through mental hospitals? Can you search Mental Hospitals?

I am looking for a brother and sister born approx. 1963 and 1964. One was born in Spokane Washington and the other Kellogg Idaho, I believe. Your mother's name is the same as mine, Beverly. At the time she had you she was married to my father Vincent Murtha. He was in Spain and is not your father. You have Eight siblings, four brothers and four sisters. I only know two brothers and two sisters. One of you were adopted in Montana and the other in Kellogg. The one in Kellogg may have been born in Spokane. You were both given away at birth. I and my brothers and sisters were also adopted, but by family members. We would like to find you. Your Mother was probably Beverly Murtha at the time of your birth. Other names she has had are Woods, Parker (Maiden name), and Orvick. She is still alive and in Montana. I am in Southern California. Please e-mail me if you think you are my brother or sister. I know our older brothers are Doug and Terry Wood, but I have not met them either. I am 44 as of June 24 this year 2003.

Hello,
I'm 14 years old and I would like to find out about my family. It's gonna be rough I can tell but I gotta know. My Grandfather Joseph P.Brusehaber and his twin James ? Brusehaber were adopted by the Brusehaber family. Now the thing is I would like to find adoption papers because I would like to know what our background is (religion, last name, nationality, etc.). I would like to know if anyone has any information on how I can do this without paying a large fee on some of these web-sites.
Thanks so much,
Allsun

I'm looking for my mother's 3 brothers that was adopted in Harris County, Houston, Texas. In May of 1953 my mother, her 3 brothers and her sister were put in Burnette Bayland, home for depent children. My mother's name is Carolyn, and she did not get adopted. But the rest of the siblings did. Their last name before they had been adopted was Thompson. Their birth parents names: Eula and T.G. Thompson. But one of the children did not have same father as the rest. His name was Delmer Frances Mayfield. They called him "Frankie". It's a possibilty that he was adopted by a Carter family. Frankie was born on Nov. 23, 1950. The others are: Thomas George, born Nov. 16,1942 Billy Jack, born July 11,1944 and Linda Sue, born Mar. 9,1946. Thomas was adopted around the year 1955 by Joseph (I not sure about his 1st name) and Alice Hyde. They lived in West Columbia, Texas. I don't know who adopted Billy. All the siblings were born in Grayson, Co. Sherman, Texas. Any info. would be greatly appreciated. ---Joy
