Surnames: Stewart, Schelhass
My grandfather (now deceased) was born in Montgomery, Alabama on June 2, 1920. His name was William George Stewart. He was adopted as an infant by Burry Stewart and Irna (Schelhass) Stewart.
I would like to obtain a copy of his original birth certificate to see if we can learn the identity of his birth parents. Is there a way to look into these pre adoption records after death? The vital statistics website was clear that no other family members could request them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
