They are telling us they could not find any record of her? I feel they never looked for her. But one person did tell us she was never adopted( information from the State). Adoption of John Monroe and Joseph Andrew Walton

John Monroe Walton b. 3/7/1886 is my GG-Grandfather. He and Joseph b. 10/3/1888 were (according to their draft registration cards)born in McEwen, Marshall County, KY. The family story is that for whatever reason, they were adopted and possibly raised in Kansas; however, not knowing how old they were when they were adopted, this birth information could be the adoptive information, making them born in Kansas. Walton may be their adopted name - we have no idea.

Mom and I are hitting an absolute stone wall on this one. We do have a picture of John Monroe with his father (not known if it is birth father or adopted father) but there is no name.

If anyone has or finds any information about either of these two men, PLEASE post a reply! Thank you so much!

I am looking for any information about my Great-Great-Great Grandparents, Jacob (Jake) Brown and Edna Brown. I believe Edna's maiden name was Rose. They lived in the townships of Magnolia and Calhoun in Columbia, Arkansas.

Jacob (Jake) Brown was born about 1827 in Kentucky and Edna Brown was born about 1844 in Georgia. The census reports for the years 1870-1910 show:

In 1870, they lived with their children (John and James Rayford) and Jacob's mother-in-law (Patsey Rose). The race of everyone was listed as "White" except for Patsey Rose listed as "Black"

In 1880, they lived with their children (John, Delia, Davie, Peggie, Henry, Samuel, and James Raford-stepson) and Jacob's mother-in-law (Patsey Hetower). The race of everyone was listed as "Black"

In 1900, they lived with their children (Sam, Joe, and Solomon) and mother-in-law (Patsey Rose). The race of everyone was listed as "Black"

On the 1910 census, I believe a transcription error was made. It looks like Jake Brown was listed as John Norman, Edna Brown as Edna Norman, Samuel Brown as Samuel Norman and Thomas Brown-nephew as Thomas Norman. I did inform Ancestry.com about this possible error.

I am searching for adoption or apprentice of my grandfather.
Jess/ Jessie/Jesse Cosby I remember him saying that he was in an orphanage.Then he went to live with a farmer and his wife.Possibly at age 6 or 7 yrs old. The birthdate he used was Nov 5, 1888 so possibly adopted 1894 or around there.
His birth year could be a 1886- 1889 guessing.
On his draft registration he listed his birthplace as Henderson,Kentucky. I thought maybe I found him in the 1900 census in Vanderburgh,Indiana with a John Reise/ Riese or Reese.In German Twp. But unsure if it is him. I hit a brickwall , Hope someone out there help......

One of the brothers is my daughters father. They were both born in Kentucky and adopted through Kansas. Apparently they were both taken from birth parents home due to abuse and neglect. The birth Index shows their adoptive mother as their birthmom and born in Meade county. Birth last name may be Waddle. One was born in 1962 and the other 1965. Also other info shows birth mom may be part or full Indian??

I am still searching for Thomas born either 2/11/1970 or 11/2/1969 and either in KY or Ohio sorry I dont have more than that. Does anyone know where I begin? Does anyone know a bi-racial boy born on either of those dates who was taken to the hopital about the end of 1970 for a broken arm and placed in a foster home where it is said he was adopted? His mother's name was Mattie Crum and his father's name is listed as "unknown" on his death certificate. I have been unable to find a birth certificate for him. Could anyone shed some information or have access to the Ky Birth Index? My husband was born on Sept. 18, 1953, and was given up for adoption. He was born in Jefferson County, KY. We have reason to believe that he was born to Betty Jean Wheeler and William Robert Wheeler who was in the army in Germany at that time. We believe that he was born at home and taken by his grandparents and given up for adoption. His mother was told that he died. Does any of this sound familiar? I'm trying to help my mother find her biological father and siblings but we don't know where to start. She was born in Indiana and we have a name for him but its a very common name. We have very little other than her birth date and a few odd things about him. She was adopted by her stepfather around 3-4 yrs old and the birth certificate was changed. This took place in Kentucky. In 1953, in Ky, if a child was born dead with a birth at home with no doctor or a country doctor in attendance, would someone get a death certificate? Would the child have a proper burial? How would you find a death certificate for an infant named George Wheeler. I'm not sure of the County. DOB 9/18/1953. Not sure if the child died or was given up for adoption.

I got my non I D info back...Not a lot to go on. My b-mother age 22 had to keep pregnancy secret from my b-father who was married at the time and in the Army. My b-mom has at least five sisters and one brother born between 1930--1944. I got a letter from my doctor and I am also writing a letter to petition the court. I hope my family is large enough or maybe the gossip will get around Hopkihsville or Crofton that I am searching. My birth mother would be 68 or 69 now and her sisters would be 74,72 70,66, 64 and my uncle would be 60 give or take a year from each. Any other suggestions while I wait for the courts to search? I'm afraid to get too excited yet..

A very wonderful search angel found my name in birth book--using my birth cert # !!! My b-mother's name is Mattie Ross born 8/9/36. I've tried to track her down and have made discreet calls to West Liberty and Hopkinsville asking for her or family of Mattie Ross.
all were wrong # or wrong race. I also spoke on the phone to the lady that was a secretary at Brooks Hospital back in 1958---she was very young then. She remembered my a-father's restaurant the Bar-B-Q Inn on Virginia street in Hokinsville. She is helping me also. And she remembered a large Ross family and possibly this Ross family lived a few doors down from me on Hayes Street. What a coincidence!! My hopes are up again....

Hi!

I am looking for information on the birth parents of Wavyleen Walker. Wavyleen was adopted by Elick and Delia Walker as an infant. Wavyleen was born June 22, 1928. Delia told Wavyleen that she came from a Christian Children's Home in Louisville, KY. One time Delia told Wavyleen that her birth mother was a "Crutcher" and told her another time that her birth mother was an "Underwood." Elick's sister told Wavyleen's sister-in-law that Wavyleen's birth mother was Mattie Sparks. Wavyleen's aunt said she didn't know where Wavyleen came from but she did remember that Elick and Delia Walker were gone all day the day they picked up Wavyleen.

Wavyleen supposedly had Rickets as a child. I don't know if she had it before or after being taken in by the Walkers.

I wrote to Frankfort, KY asking for non-identifying information on the birth parents of Wavyleen Walker. They responded saying that they did not have an adoption record on Wavyleen. Evidently, there was no formal adoption.

I would be greatful for any information or direction that anyone can give me.

The birth mother's name was Betty Jean Wheeler. My children's father was born on Sept. 18, 1953, Louisville, KY.
