Michigan has a registry. When you contacted Wayne County and requested his non id, he should have been placed on the registry and the registry checked to see if his birth family has already registered as looking for him. Has this been done??? His birth family could already be registered and just waiting for the phone to ring! The CI or contact intermediary is done through the same dept at Wayne County. If you wish to go this route, which is the fastest and easiest way to go the court will appoint a CI for you. The price is around 250-300 dollars. The CI has the adoption file and all the information in it with gives them the birthparents names address, etc.
The other important place to register is with the International Soundex Reunion Registry--ISRR. The website ends in .net not .com It is a free registry. Print off the form fill it out and mail it in. Very simple.
