May 1981 North Dakota girl in search of birth parents

A wonderful young woman would like to find her birth parents. She was born in either Grand Forks or Fargo, North Dakota, in May 1981. Her adoption was handled through a Catholic agency, and her adoptive parents also had adopted a baby boy a few years earlier.

North Dakota seems to have some rigid restrictions on providing specific birth information. Even the basic information from the Catholic adoption service is quite expensive, and they can't promise we would get anything useful. We're having some trouble figuring out how to proceed.

This young woman grew up to be a great wife & mother. Her life is full, but she would appreciate knowing more about the circumstances of her birth.

We would appreciate any advice or suggestions.
Selma (Walters) Jalbert, My great great great grandmother was adopted by Jacob and Bertha Walters. She was born on April 25 1892, in North Dakota on the 1900 census she was listed as a boarder who was seven years old, born in North Dakota, Parents were both from Norway. I don't know if any one knows but are adoption records public after 100 years in North Dakota like they are in MInnesota?

General Adoption Question

My grandmother was born in North Dakota about 1906 and adopted in North Dakota between 1909 and 1910 by a lovely family who brought her to Bradford County, Pennsylvania. There she met and married my grandfather. Unfortunately, she died 3 months after giving birth to my father.

With the limited information I have, is there any hope I might find her adoption records and thus, her birth name?

Devils Lake, ND Adoption

I am looking for information on Margaret Elizabeth Lavinia McMillan who lived in Devils Lake between 1916-1918. She was a house keeper in the John Seiberlich home. He was an undertaker. Margaret was Canadian and was about 21 or 26 yrs of age (some discrepancy in the records). She might have been there to get training in nursing at Mercy Hospital (her later profession). She gave birth to my mother on May 13, 1918 in Devils Lake. The father was John Seiberlich. My mother was put up for adoption in the Fargo Adoption Home thru the Sister of Providence. She was adopted by a couple that lived near Minot their entire lives. Margaret died in Winnipeg in 1952 and was never married to our knowledge.

Can anyone tell me if there are any resources, as a Devils Lake City Directory or hospital records, that might provide some information on Margaret McMillan and why she was in Devils Lake? This is pertinent in helping to establish if the Margaret McMillan we are researching is the right person.
If an adoption was begun in 1912-1913 but never completed - should there be records and where? The adoption was completed in 1914 with different parents - Fargo Children's Home (no longer there). We have copies of those papers, but need to know who tried to adopt him first - it was a relative of the parents who eventually did adopt him.

1-21--1980 ~ Given up for adoption in ND

I was born 1-21-80 at St. Luke's Hospital in Fargo, ND. My birthmother was from Wyoming, born (I believe) in 1960. I was adopted through Village Family Services. I am simply wanting medical information, other contact with biological parents or other family would be welcome, if the time is right for you. I want nothing from you, I feel nothing but admiration for you as you have given me a chance for a better life.
If you think that you know who my biological parents/family are, please do not respond to this message before consulting with those directly related (bio parents/family). This is a very personal issue to those involved and their needs must be respected.
