I am looking for my mother's brother who was adopted away as a small boy. He was born to Hazel Dorothy McHugh and Tony (Anthony) Bodtmann. He was given to a couple in general square in Jersey City, New Jersey. He was given back to his birth parents because his adopted mother was sick and they did not know if she was going to live. She did however get better and took him back. They then moved away and no one knows their names or where they went. At the time of his adoption he had one brother. After he was given away, he had another brother and sister. Tony and hazel then divorced and hazel remarried and had more children.
George may have been born in Margret Haige Hospital which is now Jersey City medical center. If anyone knows any info on this man please contact me ASAP. My mother thinks about him everyday wondering if she will ever meet her brother for the first time.

Adoptees adopted-parents lived in Passaic NJ.

OB-GYN was Dr. Howard Welcher who was one of the owners of this private hospital. A Doctor Max Herskowitz located in New York City was where my adopted parents picked me up from. I still have the RX of the formula that he wrote on.
March 4, 2008
Home News Tribune
page: A3

Trenton: The New Jersey Senate approves giving adoptees access to original birth certificates.

It voted 30-7 on Monday to approve legislation designed to help adoptees learn their history.

Adoptees can currently only see a birth certificate with their adoptive parents' names. The proposal would allow future adoptees to get certificates with the names, birthpalces, birth dates and occupation of biological parents.

Those already adopted in New Jersey could obtain their birth certificate, although birth parents could contact the state to ask their names be deleted. If they do, they would have to provide a medical history.

Opponents said the law would cause problems for those who gave up children thinking they would remain anonymous.

SEARCH ANGEL please help~ISO birthfather for 20 years~NJ~Please help me

I have been searching for my birthfather for over 20 years. I have some information, but I havent been able to find him. His name is Donald Schmidt. He was born in 1937. His name is on my birth record from the hospital, and it said he was 30 in 1967. I was told his mother's name was Anne Schmidt. That she died in the late 60's in NJ, at a nursing home. That she had one of the first open heart surgeries performed in NJ. I was also told that she and his family were from the East or New Brunswick area and I believe he would have attended high school in South River High School in the early 1950's. I was told he was a troubleshooter machinist for a company in Newark in the 1960's. But on my birth record it says he was a "mail order clerk". ?? I was born in Summit NJ at Overlook Hospital in 1968. My baptism certificate says Donald Schmidt as my father. I was not adopted until 1971 by my adopted father. I have the exact date of the adoption. I do not have my oriiginal birth certificate and the adoption records are sealed. Please someone help me, I have been going thru this everyday for the past 20 years or so. It hurts, not being able to find any info on him. Does anyone know where I can find hunting or fishing license records in NJ? who I would call? Any help would be appreciated more than you'll ever know.
Thank you for even reading my post.
Take care
Debbie Schmidt
I am trying to find genealogical information about my grandmother's roots, but I'm stuck because she was adopted and there is no family information. She was born in 1909 and died in 1998, so anyone involved would be long dead. Are records in NJ permanently sealed, or is it possible to open records after a certain length of time?

Born 4/12/56 Passaic NJ

Born 4/12/56 in Passaic New Jersey and was illegally adopted. DNA tests showed I'm
of maternal Italian/Sicilian descent. I have a rare genetic disorder, Becker's disease that
causes facial muscles to tighten and not release for a minute.

The vault copy of my birth certificate fraudulently lists my adoptive parents’ names as my birth
parents, yet other entries onto my birth certificate leads me to believe that some facts are of
my birth family. It lists my parents’ ages at the time of my birth in 1956 as 37 and 39 (vs. 30
and 33 for the parents who raised me in New York), my father’s occupation as a truck driver (vs.
office manager), and that I was the FIFTH child born to my mother (I was raised as an only
child). I have siblings, something I longed for my entire life!

Courts have no record of my adoption, substantiating what I was told - that I was a “black
market baby” - bought by the parents who raised me, and not at all legally adopted. My siblings
and neighbors were probably told a lie - that “the baby” (me) died. I assure you I am
alive and well!

I was put up for adoption in approx 1952. I was born in 1951. My birth brother was put up for adoption at the same time. He was born in 1949. Mother had another child after us and got married. Would like to find the child she had after us. So I can possibly see a picture of my birth mother and find out some geneology and medical records.

My birth certificate says I was born in Jersey City at Greenville Hospital and Hazel Lin delivered me on 3/2/60. Because this adoption was not official am not sure what info to trust. Am of apparent Italian descent.

Looking for help for adopted friend

I'm doing some research for a friend to find her birth name/parents. Problem is, all we have is this:

Born 7/4/64
Glen Ridge, NJ(only one hospital there, I've been told)

Adopted on Long Island, NY in 1966(date unknown, agency unknown)

Her adoptive last name is Tonjes. I'm thinking of starting with hospital records, but as you can see I have nothing much to go on. Any suggestions would be a boon! Thank you!

I am looking for what happened to John Stapleton. According to his marriage license to Josephine Edwards in 1930 in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, he was born July 15, 1902 in New Jersey to Robert Stapleton (born Dublin, Ireland) and Rose. They divorced and John was said to have moved back to New Jersey. To complicate things, on their marriage license his wife had crossed out his birth year and place and wrote in 1891, England. Would like to find out if he remarried, had any other children (he had a daughter with Josephine), and when and where he died.

I have recently found out the my great grandmother was adopted by the Sharp Family. I have found her adoption record which stated that her birth name was Meta Paterson or Patterson. She was born in April 1899 in Upper Freehold Township and placed with them to put in the hands of the New Jersey Children's Home Society. She was then adopted from them by the Sharps. The only information I don't have is who her mother or father were or even what hospital whe was born in. Can anyone give me an idea as to where to look for her birth records?

Thanks

Darlene

I am trying to trace my mother-in-laws nephew for her. We don't have many details as his mother died without telling anyone about the borth. All we have a hand written notes about the actual birth but not what hapenned to the baby. The mothers name was Sheila Adams and she was from the UK. She was a nurse in a Maryland Hospital and met a man called Ken McKinnon who had a holiday home called 'kenmar' in keansburgh, new jersey. We beleived the baby was born at this house. There seems to be no record of any baby being born so we don't actually know if the baby survived but we would love to know more. If you are a relative of Mr McKinnon, or you know the house kenmar or the family that lived there could you email me I would love to find out what happened for my mother in law who is 80 herself and getting very frail. Thank you.

I am trying to help my mother in-law find her uncles who were put up for adoption. They were probably adopted out in 1916. They were twin boys born December 30,1915. They were born in New London Connecticut. Thier names at birth were Earl Crouch Deaton and Clifford Elmer Deaton. They were born to an Elijah & Pearl (Crouch Deaton). Thier were several other children in the family. Thier mother Pearl passed away shortly after having them and they were put up for adoption about 6 months later. The family has heard they were adopted by a family from New Jersey.
Mom's family surnames include Glezen, Phelps, Woolford, and Butterfield. I do not know if my brother knows he is adopted; I don't even know if the adoption was ever legalized. Can you help me find him?

With great hope I ordered the microfilm for the Newark Star-Ledger newspaper, in the hope that they would have listed births in that city in 1946. Although they had lots of stuff in the paper, they didn't put births. I'm looking for birth records of people born at the Columbus Hospital in Newark, NJ. Does anybody have any suggestions on how I might find this information? I'm running out of ideas.

Seeking the birth mother of a boy born October 19,1985 In New Jersey

Alan was born on October 19,1985 in Denville New Jersey. His mother was not a citizen of the United States. She was a housemaid here on a visa. She gave her child up to a Jewish man by the name of Alan Kessler and a chinese woman Joanne Kessler. As far as I know his mother's name was Marissa or something similar, between the ages of 20-25, and she was from either Peru or Columbia. If anyone has any information please contact me. This is important to my family. Alan and I are getting married and he would like his mother to be a part of our lives.

New information still seeking mother of boy born 10/19/1985

We have new information. We finally got something out of his adopted mom. Alan was born in Denville, New Jersey. His bio mother's name was Marissa or something close to that and she was between the age of 20-25. Interesting how the story changes from she was 18 to she was 20-25.

Seeing as how Marissa is the only name I have to go by if anyone has any info on Marissa who was in the Denville New Jersey area in October 1985 and gave birth to a baby boy please contact me.

how do I find these people?

I'm Alan's fiance and together we are looking for his birth family.

He was born October 19,1985 in Denville, New Jersey and adopted at 3 days old by Alan and Joann Kessler. Alan was a white Jewish male and Joann a chinese woman.

My fiance was always told that one of his birth parents were Columbian and the other Peruvian. His mother was an 18 year old housemaid who was in the states on a work visa. She met his father on a one nightstand or so Alan was told. It was a private adoption. His birth mom was employed by his adopted mother's co-worker/friend.

When my fiance was 11,his adopted father died. His adopted mother is a rather cruel woman from what I understand and have witnessed. I know Alan desires more than anything to know his real mother and family. We are getting married in the future and would like to invite his parents and family not only to our wedding but also to be a part of ours and our children's lives.

Any ideas on how we find his family?

Being a mother of two I know how hard it must have been to give up your child. I applaud your strength in doing so because you felt you could not care for him. I see in his eyes an emptiness that I hope will some day be filled and I know that he loves you more than you will ever know. Thank you for your son. I love him very much and I know without you, he wouldn't be here.

boy born Oct. 19, 1985 seeking birth mother

my fiance and I are desperately searching for his birth mother.
Here are his stats:

born October 19,1985
name Alan Kessler
birth state: New Jersey

As far as we know his bio mom was a hispanic housemaid who was in the states on a work visa. He was adopted through private adoption by a Chinese woman and a white Jewish male when he was three days old. He was told one of his parents was peruvian and the other columbian and that they met on a one nightstand. He was also told his birth mother was only 18 at the time of his birth. His adopted mother always promised to help him find his bio mom but whenever it is brought up, she changes the subject. Any info anyone mayhave would be a big help.... Out of my love and devotion to my fiance I will not give up until I find his mother because I know it will bring him much happiness to know where he comes from, not only for himself but for any children we may have.
