WOMEN DESERT CHILD

McAlester, Okla., June 14-(Special)-

Two well dressed women arrived here this morning and
visited a number of houses in the residence district
saying they were selling town lots. They had with
them an 8-month-old child. Leaving the child in one
house while they crossed the yard to another, they
disappeared. The police have not been able to
find them. The child was turned over to the probation
officer of the juvenile court.

I am adopted and have met my biological mother, Babette Polson, or Babette Sheperd, and is currently Babette Hatfield. My birth certificate shows a "James Sheperd" as the father and he would have been 25 in 1968, so I believe that would make him approximately 64 years old. I was born on October 31, 1968, but the records show that he did not know of her pregnancy. I was adopted through Catholic Charities in Oklahoma City. The records also show that his father died in a car crash and he had one sister, but that is the only information I have. If anyone has any information regarding this person or knows Babette, please let me know as she told me she just made up the name. I searched the Oklahoma marriage records but could not find any for this marriage. I also have a half brother that she kept named Carey Sheperd so I don't believe she is being honest with me.

Alice M Darden Christie(1918-early 1980'sfrom Henryetta area in Okmulgee county, Oklahoma married young to Elton Christie. He left the family and Alice put their three girls in an Orphanage in Bristow, OK, Creek county.The girls names were Shirley Mae Christie, Veronica Jean Christie and Dorothy Marie Christie.This would have been in the 1940's or early 50's I think. When Alice went back to get the girls they had been adopted out without her permission and she was unable to find out any information as to their where abouts. The younger girl Dorothy had an eye problem so they hadn't been able to adopt her out. Alice took her home but Dorothy died young. Alice grieved over losing her girls and wished she could let them know she loved them. There are two aunts still living and they would very much like to let these girls or at least their descendents know that their mother loved them.

I have a Grandfather Daniel Earl Smith that was placed in an orphanage at a young age after his parents passed away he was a young child. I do not know how old he was maybe three or so. He was born in 1891 in Ft. Gibson oklahoma. That orphanage burned down as the children watched then he was placed with some kin folk so the story goes. When he was nine he ran away and never looked back.
I wonder if any one knows what the orphanage might have been named and it's location or how I may find out.

I need help trying to find some info. on Guy Lynn Towler(birth name), born we think, 11-4-51, although that date could be off a little, but pretty sure the yr. is right. The birth parents names were Hazel Marie Boyd, and Cleburn Spence Towler. Guy was born in Ok., not sure of the city. Cleburn and Hazel lived in OK, and CA, no other states that we're aware of. Hoping we could atleast find out about Hazel, if she's still living etc, so we could ask her about it. Cleburn has passed on. My family is seeking information about our family of origin following my father's 1936 adoption. We have obtained non-identifying information about my father's birthparents that we hope will help us to learn more about his biological family.

My father was born on November 9, 1936 at Cedars Maternity Home in Dallas, Texas. The baby was given to the Texas Children's Home Finding Society in San Antonio soon after.

His birthmother was 32 years old, married and from a prominent family in Oklahoma. She was born in 1904 in Kentucky, was 5 feet, 2 inches and weighed 121 pounds. She had a college education and was employed as an accountant. She had two sisters (one living in Oklahoma City and another living in New York City) and two brothers (both living in Oklahoma. Her father was a retired ranchman.

I was born in Pecos, Texas, March 21, 1947. I have been told my Birth Mother was from Oklahoma, and may have returned after my birth. Her name was Juanita May Scott, Father - Walter Scott, Mother - Mary Scott, several Sisters, and a brother were all in Porterville, Texas, and it became a ghost town soon afterwards. Searching for Grandson

We are not sure any info we have is correct for this child's birth mother gives us conflicting information. Supposely his name is Jeffery Todd Jones born in Oklahoma 11/15/1974. We do think his name is Jeffery Todd but doubt the Jones name. We believe he was born in Elk City, Ok. May be married to a girl named Mellisa and has 3 children, dau. Kenzie born 6/1994, son, Shannon Lee born 4/11/1995 and dau. Brianna born 1/1999, all in Oklahoma, perhaps in the town of Chickasha. My husband's son who is the father of this young man was given a picture before his death with the name Jeffery Todd, age 19, Senior 1992 written on the back. The picture was taken at Jones Photographics in Woodward, Ok. Only want him to know we are anxious to meet him but its up to him.. we will abide by his wishes.
