Hi,
Have you done much searching on your own yet? If you haven't done any of the following, here are some steps you can take:
1.) First and foremost, register at Soundex. You can download the forms at http://www.isrr.net
2.) Pennsylvania has a really antiquated one-way search registry. Not a lot of first mothers know about it, but it's always good to register anyway. You can get more info at
http://www.dsf.health.state.pa.us/health/cwp/view.asp?a=168&...
3.) Philadelphia Orphan's Court has a service as well. You'll want to contact Joy O'Neill for more information. She's very helpful. Her contact information is at
http://www.caspa.org/pages/adoption.htm
4.) Was your adoption private or through an agency? In either event, you'll want to contact either the county your adoption was finalized in or the adoption agency that handled your adoption to get your non-identifying information and see what type of search services they offer. You can get information on that at
http://members.tripod.com/~rombergers/nonid.html
There's also a fantastic Pennsylvania search group located at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PAFind/
There are a number of us Philly adoptees on that list
I hope these help. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me. I can also be reached on myspace at
http://www.myspace.com/ulb1963
Good luck!
