RI State Home and Orphanage - O'Roarke Childrens Center

Hello Everyone,
I am looking for any residents and / or staff that lived and worked at the RI State Home - O'Roarke Center. There is a project underway to help preserve the history of the people that where there and the place itself. Most of the State Home has now been absorbed into Rhode Island College but there is still a few buildings remaining. Those are the Foreman House, the boiler / laundry room and one of the cottages. It is hoped that the cottage will be turned into a museum / resource center. We must not let the children that went through here be lost. Their story's and history's should be recorded and preserved so that they are never forgotten. Please if anyone either worked there or lived there please post a reply to this board and I will answer as soon as possible.
Thank You.

Praying for Divine Providence

Adopted into a duel-sided 2nd Generation Naval Officer family, my adoptive parents told me frequently, informatively & appreciatively of my adoption in earliest childhood, describing me as "wanted." Told my entire life that I AM Native American, on Maternal side, with perhaps Jewish fatherhood, and three older siblings; my desire to meet my natural family has NEVER WAINED.
Many years I asked them to help me find my "natural" family;" but they declined for fear that "my natural mother parents would slam a door in my face."
Reason for adoption was "Pending Divorse" with her legal husband, which according to law would be my putative father, as any child born during a marriage is legally considered offspring flowing from the husband of the mother, unless paternity tests would prove otherwise. Reconciliation in the wings, perhaps my adoption as a condition, concieved on or about Halloween, would explain my adopted parents concern. Things change thru time which heals all wounds an 98 percent of Birth parents indicate desire to BE FOUND...having moved insessantly with my Dad's Naval change of Duty Stations...I would be difficult to track...so for the past few years since my honey built me this Pentium 4 Computer...I have been searching thru posts.
My Adopted mother told me just prior to her passing approx. 16 yrs ago, of a document that she saved for me in her Safety Deposit Box. With a Blue-Anchor Letterhead; the symbol for Rhode Island, so I wasn't informed of my actual NAME until after her death in Aug 1998. Post after posts...this is only my story in part...please email me sparrow70x7@socal.rr.com.
I still possess this document. Of my two Certified Birth Certificates, both claim I was born in Providence, R.I. same Birthdate, different filing dates, the most recent states born at Laying- In- Hospital.

I am attempting to trace ancestry of my gg grandfather, Mansel Gold, whose father was apparently born in Rhode Island. Mansel was born in New York in about 1808-1813....so his father would have to have been born prior to about 1788.

Anyone researching the Gold family in Rhode Island who may have this lineage, please contact me.

Thanks!

I am looking for the Martin family in Woonsocket, RI. My father was adopted in 1951 and he believes his birth name is Peter Martin. His mother and father were married when he was born. His mother's initials are either MF or EF. We are unsure about that. His father's name begins with a G and his last name is Martin. If you can help us please do. You can email me at ebrooks@mptn.org
