If the adoption went thru DSS - the Department of Social Services of South Carolina then you can submit your info in their registry in Columbia. If the adoption did not go thru them, they will not accept a registry form. DSS only kept records for the children that went thru that agency. - Other agencies, were expected to keep their own records and attorneys also. It is unfortunate that some agencies and attorneys have closed their business and the location of some of the records are unknown or destroyed.
Adoption records were sealed in S.C. in 1963.
