My grandfather was born May 12, 1912 in Alleghany County, Va. His father was a Cherokee Indian (?), name William Carpenter (?), mother not sure either. Howard was adopted by the Kropff family in Floyd County Va. Does anyone have any information on the adoption and names of parents?
