Landestoy family in the US

Hello,
I'm trying to find out if there's still any alive relative of the Landestoy- Pimentel in the US.
The family ran away from the Dominican Republic when the country was under the dictatorship of Trujillo (1930-1961) and, although I have found many people whose last name ids Landestoy, I'd like to find the relatives of this part of the family.
The family was composed by 4 sisters:
- Carmita Landestoy. She never got married and I found her death certificate. She died in NY in 1988.
- Consuelo Landestoy. She married a Spanish emigrant named Lemes and had several children in San Antonio, TX. She died in San Antonio, TX in 2003.
- Caridad Landestoy
- Concepcion Landestoy.
I don't know if they ever got married and if they are still alive or if they have descendants. I found an obituary for Concepcion Landestoy in Miami Dade, FL but I don't know if it's the same person.

My interest in locating any nieces/ nephews or relatives that are still alive is because I'm doing a research for the University of Houston about Carmita, a famous leader and feminist who fought for the rights of women as well as for the freedom of her country. In fact, she was under constant surveillance because she wrote a book against Trujillo reporting atrocities on the Trujillo dictator and the dictatorship.

If anybody knows about this family or knew this person, please, contact me in order to exchange some information.

Thanks a lot and I hope to hear from any you!

Indexes for census?

Does anyone have any idea of when they will have the 30's census indexed? It seems they started out great but then just stopped. In my opinion the census indexess are the most important thing they could provide for us at this time. I also need the index for 1870 and up.

While I'm at it does anyone know anything about this Canada in locality resources that's been comming soon for about 3 months now?

Please don't take me wrong, I think this is the best site on the web. It's just that I've gone as far as I can without those data bases and it's frustrating looking in every night and not seeing anything new done with those indexes.

M.O.

Lest anyone think that Ancresty and the various ISPs have solved the problem of non-delivery of the e-mail version of Ancestry Daily News, let me assure you they have not.Since early December the only issues I have received are: Feb 5, Feb 13, Feb 27 and Mar 7. I also received an e-mail from Gary shortly before I received the Mar 7th issue. However, it's now March 16th and nothing is happening. But I guess no one cares.

Relationships within Family

I probably didn't state in my Subject exactly what it is I'm asking about, and that is primarily because I don't quite know how to put it!

I would like to know where I can find a resource to explain the delineations of our relationship to others in our family. For example: If my grandmother's cousin has a grandchild, how am I related to that grandchild? It's all that first cousin, 2nd cousin, 3rd cousin twice removed. That's what I'm looking for.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

Collector's Edition Ancestry Daily News October 2002

I seem to be having nothing but trouble with Ancestry lately :) The October 2002 issue of Collector's Edition Ancestry Daily News just arrived in the mail and I discovered that one side of several pages has no printing on it and therefore text is missing.

Some examples of the missing pages are:

page viii
page x
page 2
page 4
page 8
page 99
page 119
page 125
page 131
page 133 and on and on....

Will something be done about this or will we just get the run-around like we have been getting concerning the non-receipt of the internet daily newsletters?

MrSid for Mac - No Detail Tab - No Full Page Print

After weeks of back and forth between Ancestry and Lizard Tech I finally discovered that MrSid for the Mac is missing a very important feature. In the Windows version it is a tab button next to the "View Full Screen" tab. Because the Mac version doesn't have this you cannot print a readable copy of an entire page of the census. Best you can do is blow up sections, print those, and then tape, yes tape, them together. What I find so aggravating is that I had to tell the people at Ancestry about this, they didn't know or at least if they did, they weren't going to tell me about it. When I did figure this out they directed me to Lizard Tech, Lizard Tech refused to say anything (Ancestry's version of MrSid is unsupported) but one of their reps, Ryan Burley said that it was a problem with the Ancestry website design...I think he was dodging the question as did Ancestry, who for weeks on end sent nothing but "canned" replies to my requests.

If anyone out there has found a way, on a Mac, to print and entire page, legibly, without tape....please let me know.

thanks
Chris
