it depends on the software you are using. I am using PAF from the LDS site. I can print a list of all names with what ever I want in each column (actually within a wide selections of terms). So if I wanted women who married into a family I would select "all" then modify selection by sex = female and then "marriage status = married".
Then I can specify whether I want the list with the woman (and her maiden name if known) in the first column, and husband in second - sorted by her name or vice versa: his name, then hers, sorted by his name.
I can also include other info like DOB, DOD, marriage date, place of birth, death, marriage, etc. ....to the extent they are in my database.
I do a lot of work in Minnesota and they have some excellent sources for maiden names in their birth and death indexes and marriage index....for the years available (for births before 1935 - check the Minnesota Historical Society Birth Index, Ancestry has info after 1934....for Minnesota. The earlier records are more of a challenge since the information was record in handwriting and not consistent between counties or years collected....but what is there is VERY helpful!) When I find a maiden name and don't know her first name, I put it in the database with the first name as "female" and then maiden name - this way I can record the maiden name and it is much easier to find the first name later in other records.
