Possibly you figured this out by now, but in case you haven't. . .
Select the tree you want to "manage."
A page should come up with various tabs on the top. Select the "Home" tab and scroll down that page. Somewhere towards the right-hand side in a box labeled "Tools" you should find what you're looking for.
I agree the site is less user-friendly. I'm planning on taking at least my largest tree off Ancestry and putting it on RootsWeb because it has become unwieldy with all the site "improvements."
