"One suggestion I'd make would be to specify whether an edit is made by the poster or the board admin--I notice that messages I where I edited surnames as admin months ago reflect that the surnames were edited but don't specify that the edit was made by the admin. Perhaps if the posts did indicate this fact it might serve as a learning tool for the poster in how to properly use the surname box."

It doesn't say that the surnames were edited...it just says "edited". If it were to specify that it was "edited by Admin", I would expect a lot of backlash from posters complaining about having their messages changed, etc.
I doubt if they ever noticed that the surname box was edited before this...er...improvement?...so I very much doubt that seeing it now would serve as a learning tool. If you had a "troublesome" poster before, I shudder to think what he/she/it will be like now.
Ancestry...the one step forward, five steps back site. The one step forward nbeing able to now delete a post from a thread without deleting the whole thread.
