My reply: not always--it depends upon the circumstances and nature of the data.
Here is the quote from the AUP about user-submitted data:
"We will not edit or monitor user-provided content, with the exception that, to promote privacy, an automated filtering tool will be used to suppress and omit from display information submitted to the WorldConnect Family Tree Project which appears in our best judgment to pertain to a living person. MyFamily.com, Inc. also reserves the right to remove any user provided content that comes to its attention and that it believes, in its sole discretion, is illegal, obscene, indecent, defamatory, incites racial or ethnic hatred or violates the rights of others."

Err, what does it matter how. Answer that part of the question instead of shifting to your all so ever broken record response.

If someone I didn't like called me I'd simply say I wasn't interested in anythng they had to say and hang up.
Would I be upset at how they got the info to call? Not in the least.
I don't suffer fools gladly and have no guilt at all about expressing my actual feeling rather than hide them behind some politically correct "make them feel warm and fuzzy" phrasing.
As you can probably tell by now, I care not a fig what others think of me.
I once had a tag line in latin that translated as: "Your approval is neither requested nor desired"
That is exacly how I live my life. *I* validate me- others need not apply.

It is not a law that anyone has to review your postings before making such a statement. Anyone can judge you within the context they know you in.

Now Lucy,
Please show me where I said it was a law. I said "Perhaps"
If a person wants to limit their view rather than gain a fuller perspective that is their choice; altho they run the risk of forming ill-informed opinions due to the lack of that fuller perception.
Their choice and I really don't care one way or the other; I just hate to see people make fools of themselves and have to eat their words.

I'm playing Devil's Advovate here, but then by the laws and practice of where I live, you've broken alot of rules.
Unlike the USA, this information is fairly strictly controlled in Australia. I can't even look up an INDEX of births of people born after 1908, let alone get full information. Therefore, I can't find out when my grandmother's brother was born, even though he's been dead for 40 years!!!
So using your logic, I should be able to ask you to remove all that sort of information from your tree, because according to how things are done in my country, I'd be well within my rights.
However, I know that it would be an exercise in futility and I have no right to impose my rules on how you do your research. And I'd expect the same from you.
Having said that, I don't put that sort of information into trees, because it can be missed used. On the other hand, I don't freak out if I find that information on other people's trees, because as others have pointed out, there is absolutley nothing to be done about it.
Cheers, Michelle

Yes, I believe she is speaking for everyone.
Evidently, speaking for everyone is ethical as politicians do it all the time...much to everyone's chagrin.
